Operators' Forum Print
The Operators' Forum is a rapidly growing division of ALLMI and its purpose is to raise the standard of safety and professionalism amongst operators of lorry loaders.  It actively serves and promotes its members, which range from some of the largest fleet owners in the UK to small, local businesses, running just one or two vehicles (if you would like to see a list of Forum member companies, please click here).  Membership of the Operators’ Forum will benefit your company in the following ways:

The benefits of Forum membership include:

  • Technical Information
ALLMI's Technical and Training Committees consist of representatives from the UK's leading loader crane manufacturers and importers.  Added to the fact that Forum members are able to draw upon the expertise of ALLMI's full time Technical Manager, who has over 20 years’ experience in the lorry loader industry, this means that ALLMI can provide an unrivalled level of advice and guidance on all technical aspects of lorry loader use.
  • Working in Partnership with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
Representatives of the HSE sit on ALLMI's Training and Technical Committees, and therefore have valuable input into the standards and guidance that ALLMI develops for its members.  In addition, HSE representatives also attend Forum General Meetings and have provided members with guidance on a variety of important issues, such as working at height, falls from vehicles and the legislative requirements surrounding the use of lorry loaders.  As well as having a strong relationship with the HSE, ALLMI also has close links with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), which can use ALLMI to inform operators of its requirements in relation to lorry loader inspections.
  • Interchange of Ideas and Opinions between Manufacturers / Services Agents and Forum Members
This takes place partly via General Meetings, but also by the Forum having a representative on both the ALLMI Technical and Training Committees, which between them produce guidance on all aspects of lorry loader use.  In fact, the Forum has already had a direct involvement in the development of the ALLMI Slinger / Signaller course, the revision of the ALLMI Code of Practice, and the training programme for thorough examinations and load tests of lorry loaders.
  • Lorry Loader Training Commended by the Health & Safety Executive
ALLMI runs the UK’s only lorry loader operator training programme to have been awarded the HSE's ‘Working in Partnership’ logo and commendation.  ALLMI also has a seat on the CPCS Management Committee (please click here for details of ALLMI's agreement with CPCS).  Whilst both members and non-members have access to ALLMI training, Forum members also have the ability to contribute towards the development of the scheme via representation on the ALLMI Training Committee.
  • Guidance & Consultation on Standards & Legislation Affecting the Industry
ALLMI has been instrumental in the writing of legislation and standards affecting the industry and was heavily involved with the British Standards Institution for the preparation of BS7121 Part 4 'The Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Lorry Loaders.'  ALLMI is now taking part in the current revision of Part 4, as well as the revision of EN12999, the European Standard for loader cranes.  Due to ALLMI’s involvement with the HSE, the loader crane manufacturers / importers and the British, European and International Loader Crane Standards Committees, Forum members not only have the opportunity to consult upon and possibly influence forthcoming changes in standards and legislation affecting the industry, they also have access to advice and guidance on all aspects of compliance.
  • Website Promotion & Facilities for Members
All Forum members are promoted through the ALLMI website, which lists each company’s contact details, together with information on the services they offer and a link to their company website.  The website also features a password protected members' section, which includes a download area containing documents from the HSE and VOSA, as well as all information coming from the Forum General meetings and also legislation relevant to lorry loaders.  In addition, the members' section also includes an online discussion area, which allows members to raise issues and discuss common problems.
  • Enhance Your Corporate Image
ALLMIThe ALLMI name is associated with safety, standards and quality, whether it’s in relation to training, crane installations and service, or the running of vehicles.  Not only are members associated with ALLMI via its website promotion, but they are also able to utilise the ALLMI Vehicle Sticker (pictured right) and in addition, are provided with an annual Membership Certificate.
  • Group Buying
Operators' Forum members also benefit from a Buyers' Co-operative, which allows companies to utilise the group buying power within the Forum membership.  The first product to be introduced for the Co-operative was insurance and some members have already saved thousands of pounds on their premiums, as well as receiving improved levels of cover.  In addition, ALLMI has recently formed an agreement with EMO Oil, Shell’s largest UK distributor, which will provide members with access to high quality oil and lubricant products at extremely competitive prices, as well as a number of peripheral services, such as technical and legislative updates, training / seminars, waste collection services, etc. The ALLMI Buyers' Co-operative has also recently expanded into business communications by utilising the services of industry specialists, Difference Corporation.
  • Networking Opportunities
ALLMI holds two Operators' Forum General Meetings per year, which not only allow members to be updated on the latest issues affecting the industry, but also provide an excellent networking opportunity for all.  Also, in addition to fleet owners, members of ALLMI include loader crane manufacturers, service companies and ancillary equipment manufacturers, and all member companies are promoted in the ALLMI Membership book, which is published twice a year.
