Public Comment Window Closes for ALLMI / CPA Best Practice Guide

The public comment phase for the draft of the ALLMI / CPA Best Practice Guide on lorry loader operations closed on the 6th November.  The BPG is expected to be published in early 2010 and the purpose of the document is to clarify and expand upon the requirements of the new British Standard for lorry loaders, BS7121 Part 4.

Following the Association’s extensive work on the project in conjunction with the Construction Plant-hire Association, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG), the Modular and Portable Building Association (MPBA) and the Safety Assessment Federation (SAFed), ALLMI’s Chairman, Mark Rigby, comments “although the Best Practice Guide will not be classed as a 'Standard', due to it being endorsed by so many well recognised and reputable organisations it will carry significant weight within the industry.  For that reason, we’ve encouraged our members to give us their comments on the draft so that they can have input into what will be a very important document.
