Providing Members with a Voice in the Industry ALLMI has representatives on British, European and International Standards Committees for loader cranes and so all members have an opportunity to voice opinions on forthcoming changes in legislation and standards affecting the industry. In fact, ALLMI is currently involved in the revision of BS7121 Part 4, the British Standard for lorry loaders, and EN12999, which is the European Standard. Guidance in Relation to Technical Issues / Legislative Changes Due to ALLMI’s involvement with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the British, European and International Loader Crane Standards Committees, members have access to advice and guidance on all aspects of lorry loader use, such as health and safety matters, documentation, legislation compliance and operator training. Members also have access to technical advice via ALLMI’s Technical Director who has over 20 years’ experience in the lorry loader industry. Group Buying Power ALLMI runs a Buyers’ Co-operative which allows members to purchase core products at a discounted rate. The first product to be introduced to the Co-operative was insurance and some members have already saved thousands of pounds on their premiums, as well as receiving improved levels of cover. In addition, ALLMI has formed a buying agreement with EMO Oil, Shell’s largest UK distributor, which should see ALLMI members making significant savings on high quality oil and lubricants, as well as providing members with a number of peripheral services, e.g. technical and legislative updates, training / seminars, waste collection services, etc. The ALLMI Buyers Co-operative has also recently expanded into business communications by utilising the services of industry specialists, Difference Corporation. Thorough Examination Training ALLMI has recently introduced an accredited training programme for thorough examinations and load tests of lorry loaders, which is only available to ALLMI members. Please click here for further information. Market Statistics ALLMI will soon be publishing market statistics for members. These sales figures will be broken down into categories, which will be based on the tonne-metre rating of the cranes as well as their application. Technical Publications Members also have access to technical publications such as the ALLMI Code of Practice, ALLMI Guidance Notes and other technical documents including template certificates and report forms for the test and inspection of lorry loaders. Website Promotion All ALLMI members are promoted through the ALLMI website. Contact details are provided for each member, in addition to a link to their website and information on the services they offer. Members also have access to a secure section of the site, which includes a download area containing regulations and standards relevant to the industry, as well as information coming from organisations such as the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) and the HSE. In addition, the secure area of the website will soon contain the recently publicised Engine Management Systems (EMS) facility, which will provide a one stop shop for all EMS related information coming from leading truck, loader crane and PTO manufacturers. Networking Opportunities ALLMI holds two General Meetings per year, which not only allow members to be updated on the latest issues affecting the industry, but also provide an excellent networking opportunity for all. Also, in addition to manufacturers / importers and service companies, members of ALLMI include fleet owners and ancillary equipment manufacturers, and all member companies are promoted in the ALLMI Membership book which is published twice a year. |
